Emerging 3D scanning techniques are on their way to making physical museums obsolete. Last Tuesday, CultLab3D, 3D scanning facility for cultural artefacts developed by Fraunhofer IGD, demonstrated the technology behind their scanning device by digitizing, for the first time in history, an art object.
